The First "Belt and Road" National Accounting Standards Cooperation Forum Successfully Held in Xiamen

From November 7 to 8, 2019, the First “Belt and Road” National Accounting Standards Cooperation Forum (hereinafter referred to as the “Cooperation Forum”) was held in Xiamen, China. Hosted by the Ministry of Finance of China, the Forum was organized by Xiamen National Accounting Institute and Research Center for the Belt & Road Financial and Economic Development. Participants of the Initiative on Promoting Accounting Standards Cooperation among Participating Countries of the Belt and Road Initiative—including delegates from accounting standards-setting bodies of eight countries, namely Ministry of Finance of China, National Accounting Council of Cambodia, Mongolian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Accounting Standards Board of Nepal, External Reporting Board of New Zealand, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, and Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants—attended the Cooperation Forum. The delegates shared their respective experiences in the development of accounting standards systems and future plans, discussed the major challenges they faced, and conducted in-depth exchanges on the working mechanism of the Cooperation Forum. The delegates unanimously stated that they hope to, by strengthening exchanges and cooperation in accounting standards, jointly address issues such as standards implementation, capacity building, and accounting supervision, create a favorable accounting environment for international economic and trade exchanges and capital flows, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
