The Fourth “Belt and Road” National Accounting Standards Cooperation Forum Held as Scheduled

On November 8, 2022, the Fourth “Belt and Road” National Accounting Standards Cooperation Forum, organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, was held online as scheduled. Delegates from accounting standards-setting bodies of 10 countries, including China, Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam, participated in the Forum. Chinese delegates included Zhang Juan, Deputy Director-General of China Accounting Standards Committee of Ministry of Finance, as well as relevant staff from Accounting Regulatory Department and China Accounting Standards Committee of Ministry of Finance, Research Center for the Belt & Road Financial and Economic Development of Xiamen National Accounting Institute (the Liaison Office of the Cooperation Forum), and Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

This Cooperation Forum mainly consisted of two sections: experience exchange and technical discussion. In the experience exchange section, delegates from the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Xiamen National Accounting Institute shared China’s practices and insights, focusing on the theme of accounting talent education and training. In the technical discussion section, the delegates conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics such as Sustainability Reporting Standards, Carbon Emission Rights Trading Schemes, and Valuations for Financial Reporting. In addition, the delegates reached a basic consensus on the arrangements for the Fifth Cooperation Forum.

The success of the Fourth Cooperation Forum marks the further consolidation and deepening of cooperation in accounting among participating countries of the Belt and Road (hereinafter referred to as “BRI partner countries”). In the future, the Cooperation Forum will continue to play an important platform role, continuously promoting the development of accounting standards and capacity enhancement in BRI partner countries, and opening up a new prospect for mutually beneficial and win-win development.
