The Sixth “Belt and Road” National Accounting Standards Cooperation Forum Held as Scheduled

On July 23, 2024, the Sixth “Belt and Road” National Accounting Standards Cooperation Forum (hereinafter referred to as the “Cooperation Forum”) was held online as scheduled. Hosted by Accounting Regulatory Department of Ministry of Finance of China and China Accounting Standards Committee, the Cooperation Forum was organized by Research Center for the Belt & Road Financial and Economic Development of Xiamen National Accounting Institute. Shu Huihao, Director-General of Accounting Regulatory Department of Ministry of Finance of China and Head of China Accounting Standards Committee, Zhang Juan, Deputy Director-General of China Accounting Standards Committee, and Ding Yougang, Vice President of Xiamen National Accounting Institute, attended the Forum. Director-General Shu Huihao and Vice President Ding Yougang delivered opening remarks respectively. Delegates from accounting standards-setting bodies of 10 countries, including China, Cambodia, Laos, the Maldives, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam, participated in the Forum. Delegates from the Republic of Korea attended the Forum as observers.

The participants shared experiences and practices and exchanged views on technical topics such as the development of accounting standards in the Maldives, the classification of payments on land lease based on cadastral value, data resources, the progress of adoption or application of international sustainability disclosure standards, and the capacity building related to sustainability disclosure. Meanwhile, they listened to a briefing by the Chinese side on the progress of developing the Belt and Road Economic and Financial Capacity Building Platform and discussed arrangements for the next Cooperation Forum.

The participants unanimously stated that they will always adhere to the principle of “achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration”, focus on the four goals of technical exchange, policy promotion, capacity building, and cooperative research, continuously deepen exchanges and cooperation under the framework of the Initiative on Promoting Accounting Standards Cooperation among Participating Countries of the Belt and Road Initiative, and work together to promote accounting in participating countries of the Belt and Road to a new level.
